watch The Devil's Double online Megavideo

"Double Devil," Mercedes-Benz sedan speeding through the streets; men in dark suits and sunglasses slalu on his face, with arms that slalu ready at any time. the film in the tradition of "Scarface" and "The Sopranos" are neither accidental nor inappropriate. The Hussein look like a crime family classic Hollywood - or at least that's how they appear in the 1980's and 90's, when the film is developed. Saddam (Philip Quast) is a patriarch in a bad mood, remotely related to the daily affairs of tyranny. Cruelty seems to have at least one goal. But the demon in "Devil's Double" is his son (Dominic Cooper) Uday, whose error is less the result of his father's absolute power and a source of irritation for the elderly.

Uday, pathetic and dangerous for the poor throughout his Playboy posts, presents an interesting case study of psychopathology without selecting a privilege. The rapist, a sadist, and cokehead, romantically linked to her mother and cruel contempt for all other women, Uday is a cartoon walking weather. Puffing big cigars, Rolex watches and brandishing large guns, seems like a teenager acting out fantasies, gathered by hip-hop videos. And as the film moves into its world of blood and sex, and curdled male chauvinism, "The Devil's Double" for a breath 'of its toxicity, low energy consumption. Sometimes it feels like I'm stuck in Grand Theft Auto: The city of Baghdad, at the same time funny enough, it can also become a bit 'tiring.

The film (directed by Lee Tamahori from a screenplay by Michael Thomas) filters own prurient fascination with Uday from the perspective of another character, the less detestable. Latif Yahia is also played by Mr. Cooper, a veteran of the war between Iran and Iraq, which is snatched from obscurity and offered the dual role of Uday. This is not an offer he can not refuse - the interview process including beatings and threats to his family - and the responsibilities are not always pleasant. He has nice clothes, plenty of liquor and Uday access to all women is not, but should serve as a decoy for the murderers, a celebrity lookalike and, worst of all, the best friend of officials of Uday.

Latif, a quiet man with a troubled conscience, our guide and protector of morality throughout the tour behind the scenes of hell. (Latif Yahia is the true author of the book on which "twice the Devil", classified as a novel, but the integration of their experiences.) Disapproval of Uday's behavior reminds us that we too are appalled - not only excited - for all the violence and debauchery.

The film swerves sharply between fascination and disgust, and is perhaps a little 'too much fun for good. Sometimes, rejects the historical Reckoning is a juicy sensation. Latif seeks relationship with her lover Uday regular sarrab, played a femme fatale wig line and mannerisms Ludivine Sagnier, and then convince the Final Act of the film, becomes a prisoner of the circumstances of Hero Suave international action.

But despite all the pleasure of seeing Mr. Cooper's performance - or rather the performance - never decreases. Play both the dark and hysterical Uday Latif is a waterfall, but it is a tour de force. When I say I was reminded at times of Jerry Lewis slips from the Julius Kelp soft ridiculous love of friends in "The Nutty Professor," I mean, as recognition of the spirit of Mr. Cooper. To become Uday, Latif COP artificial teeth, shrugs and gives voice to a sharp stuttering, and Mr. Cooper, in fact, a parody of his role in the other.
